I am still in a state of shock over the passing of Canadian actress/rocker #sassjordan Sass was such a down to earth cool chick, with an awesome unmistakable voice!. I had planned on hooking up with her again this year. Oddly enough we actually became friends in 2003 on My Space and that is where we built a friendship and bonding over a song she wrote in 1994 that was on her Rats album, which I remain to be private about.
Sass was born in Britain, but raised in Montreal,Quebec Canada. Her first single, “Tell Somebody” from her debut album of the same title, won the Juno award in 1989 for The Most Promising Female Vocalist. In the early years, starting around 1991, Sass acted in the NBC Drama television series "Sisters".
She was Billboard’s top female rock artist of the year for 1992, releasing her album “Racine”, then in 1994 her third album “Rats”was released with her most notable standout rocking songs like “High Road Easy”, “Damaged”, "Pissing Down”,and “Sun’s Gonna Rise.”
In 1994, Sass brought in a then 22 yr old drummer Taylor Hawkins (RIP) on tour with her as his first gig, before he later joined The Foo Fighters in 1997. She performed in the off Broadway show “Love Janis”, about Janis Joplin in 2001. For 6 seasons from 2003- 2008, she was a judge/mentor for “Canadian Idol”. In 2013 and 2014, Sass played the part of Sister Mary on tour with Queensryche.
Sass previously played in a project called S.U.N. ( Something Unto Nothing with legendary world class guitarist/drummer Brian Tichy(Former Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne) ( Currently Gene Simmons Band ) Sass spoke highly of Brian, who I also recently interviewed, and who you will see/hear coming soon.
Sass sadly passed away on October 2nd, 2026 from a short but quickly serious bout with cancer, after cancelling her shows in September, and passing away a month later. Sass will be greatly missed! RIP SASS! Rock the heavens with Taylor Hawkins and all the other great musicians who have left before you..I will forever honor your music and legacy!
