“Abbey Road On The River – with Peter Asher”

"Abbey Road On The River - with Peter Asher"

The silence of the last fifteen months across the globe has somewhat subsided

as we seem to get lost in our musical dreams. Abbey Road has once again conquered

the lack of aesthetics with a “Crown Jewel” of The British Invasion, Monsieur Peter

Asher, the coda of "Abbey Road On The River". Peter has been duly noted and lauded

in England by The Queen, "Commander Of The British Empire". During these trying

moments, Peter has chosen mirth over malice and his conversation within his stage

presence remains as incantations that broaden the smiles, similar to those who are

quite aware of his history. Perhaps “One Good Day In A Row” will suffice while attending

this festival. Tomes of these fleeting moments in time define the years when Peter lived

with Paul McCartney while Paul was dating his sister (Lady Jane Asher), the voracity of

his story is humbling and colorful but was soon in shambles when their relationship faded

into the sunset. “A World Without Love”, "Lady Godiva” and tunes written by McCartney

and Lennon as well paved his way for notoriety. Their appreciation of each other would

lead to Peter as the CEO for Apple Records at Abbey Road after the legalities with Allen

Klein and the other Charlatans associated with that debacle. As the chosen soul, Peter was

chosen predicated on integrity, knowledge and charisma augmented with his background

and ability to sign neoteric artists of the era, inclusive of a very youthful James Taylor who

would be heard by Peter, Paul & John and quickly signed to a contract along with the first

woman, Mary Hopkins and the first band augmented with  a myriad of grandeur, Badfinger.

With the disdain of Allen Klein and the monetary loss for The Beatles, Peter would moved to

The United Statesand became a distinguished manager/agent for James Taylor and Linda

Ronstadt, Jackson Browne among others. Peter’s work would see him ascending the ladder

of success as a producer, a talisman of the eighties. Peter’s retention as a melodic vocalist

during his youthful efforts with Gordon Waller(RIP) are a stroll down memory lane with the

merriment of tunes that were beneficial in painting the tapestry of an entire generation and

sub- culture. While in the midst of storytelling, Peter performs a cacophony of tunes augmented

with his aesthetics acquired along his long and winding road. He travels with a phalanx of

musical wizards, obviously they are the catalyst while Peter remains as the “singing soul” with

the autocracy to make the cogs of his musical wheel work, as it should. Peter brings the aura

of joy, evocative and charming, a sage of not only his generation but for all generations as we

roll down our chosen paths......
