MASS IN THA GRASS FESTIVAL: AUG 9TH & 10th 2024 By Jim Allford

MASS IN THA GRASS FESTIVAL is a two day festival in Sinking Spring, Pa a few miles from Altoona, Pa. The festival was held Aug 9th and 10th and was host to quite a few bands, in which some of them are widely known, while others have yet to be known.

Sorry to say, I didn't get to see all the artists and bands that played there, but I met many of them and they all were quite amazing. On Aug 9th I saw six out of the eight bands play and it, definitely, was quite interesting to say the least.

M ASAP & QUICK and DJ ZAY QUICK started off the afternoon with some rap/hiphop music which was hot on the spot as DJ ZAY QUICK played all some very hot rap and hip music music. plus, some music we all would know. He was excellent and knew what people liked.

TAKE A HIT is pure punk rock band to be on the watch for. They played original throughout their set and definitely left their mark on their first appearance. HOT FUDGE MONDAES is another amazing original rock band from Altoona, Pa and their music has all the hooks flying everywhere and songs that are quite a stand-out. Be on the look out for this band.

MINI MUMS ACOUSTIC TRIO is a new experimental trio from the band , MUMS THE WORD. They are, definitely, NOT one of your rum of the mill bands. This band is pure entertainment in the true meaning of the word. Keep your eyes and ears open for them.

LESS THAN ZERO is a band that is really making their mark on the true meaning of punk music and are high energy and non-stop from the very first minute they hit the stage. WOW! Is all I can say! This was the end of Day 1 for me. Also, I'm sorry to say I missed the other two bands that played. I hope to catch up with you sooner or later.

WOLF WITHIN MUSIC was quite impressive as she came from N.Y. and this was her first time ever in Pa. She told her a lot herself and the struggles she's been through in her life. She really held the attention to all being there. Watch out for her!

LITTLE JIMMY MELLOBALLER made his second debut at this Festival and is always entertaining with her clever lyrics as he plays on his ukulele. He deserves a lot more attention in the very near future. AZIA BARNETT is always a sweet voice to hear. She will get you attention from every note she sings. She is so sweet and amazing, to say the least.

AMID CASH & DEZZG are are two rappers that will get your attention fast. They know how to rap together non-stop and their message will really get to you. Be on the lookout for them and listen to their message they have. JOHN PEACFIRE , definitely, has a style of his own which is quite interesting to hear. Listen close to his lyrics and follow the message he is trying to get you. He, definitely, has his own zone.

WOOKSOK is another rapper which is, definitely, high energy. When he hits the stage he goes off on his rap from the very second. WOW! Look out. TOY is an amazing rock band that plays original music which is a true standout. They have their own feel and style like no other. Their music is raw and classy at the same time. Great band.

LUCID TOOTH is an amazing three piece band that , also, plays original music. Their music is very wholesome and easy to listen to. They, also, have a style of their own which is superb, to say the least. GRIMM AND THE REAPERS took the stage by surprise. This is purely a metal/rap band with all the goods. Their original music will surprise you and I heard one song that could, definitely, be a hit. Also, their stage show amazed everyone. Keep your eyes open for this four piece band.

SOUL MINER UNION ended the night for me with the best blues I ever heard in a long time. This three piece band blew everyone away. They had your attention the minute they hit the stage. Impressive, to say least. Sorry to say, I missed the last few artists and bands. I, definitely, hope to catch up with you. Keep rockin', JIM ALLLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.] PS: I would like to THANK THE MASS IN THA GRASS STAFF for inviting me and treating me great. I was very honored to be there.
