CHERIE CURRIE is well know as being the ex- lead singer for the ‘70’s rock band, THE RUNAWAYS. The making of the CD/vinyl was inspired by the making of the movie The Runaways, which she was helping to promote.
During the time when this CD was suppose to be released Cherie had a near death experience and took quite some time to recover. The guests that appear on this 15 song CD include Billy Corgan, Slash and Duff, Juliette Lewis, Matt Sorum . Brody Valle and The Veronicas.
There are a few bonus tracks on the CD that is well worth the price alone. MR X. starts out the CD with the help from Slash and Duff , which will have you rockin’ out as Cherie’s voice is a definite stand out and holds her own. YOU WRECK ME is hard rock solid song with a straightforward beat that will have you head banging along with her exceptional, amazing vocals.
BLVDS OF SPLENDOR features Billy Corgan which gives Cherie a different favor of music which is sweet change of pace for the CD and quite a highlight. BAD AND BROKEN is really a rocker which fits Cherie well, as she belts out the song , loud and strong. You’ll love this one. SHADES is a real treat, as she sings this song with so much conviction , as you can feel it pour out of her heart. This a must to hear.
You’ll love her rendition of the Tommy James and The Shondells song, DRAGGIN’ THE LINE.
The band is as solid as can be and the harmonies are right on the money.Crank this song up loud and sing along. THE AIR THAT I BREATHE is another treat on this CD. She does a superb rendition of The Hollies song. There is no doubt, you’ll love this song and will be singing along with it. WHAT DO THE PEOPLE KNOW? is one of the bonus tracks that has a great melody that you’ll love from the very first note.
This a must to hear, by all means. The Runaways song, QUEEN OF NOISE, closes out this amazing CD and will take you back to the days of The Runaways. I know if you weren’t a fan of them then, you’ll be a fan of them now. Cherie still holds her own and sounds as better than ever.
