VEiiLA is a very interesting duo that hails from Moscow/St. Petersburg, Germany. They consider their music as dark cold wave, bleak house, witch house and other genres of music.I would , also, like to mention after they left Russia they relocated to Armenia.
The band is: VIF NUTE-Vocals, guitar, synths and BES EIRID-Keyboards, synths.This 25 song [Deluxe Edition] album was Mixed, Mastered, Produced and Engineered by Vif Nute and Bes Eirid in various apartments and rooms.They restrain themselves from overdubbing and layering to capture a true sound of themselves.
CAN'T FORGIVE MYSELF kicks off this album which is kind of hypnotic as their music seems so simple yet very complicated from the start. Quite interesting. BROKEN TOY is really amazing as you listen close to this song as the vocals seem to flow along easier as a classical guitar type playing is interluding with the space effects, which is supercool.
The melody and lyrics are epic in this song. WOW! FURNACE is a sweet laid back song as it seems like a bit of a love song as the melody and lyrics are spot on. I love how you can drift away with them in their music. PUSH THE PEDAL has a great intro as the vocals once again get into your head.
The melody and lyrics will take you to la la land once again, which is a great place to be at times. What a very interesting song. MADE OF AIR starts off very simple with a guitar and beats as the drums on the synth sneaks in. The song picks once again as the melody and lyrics can sweep you away. Sweet song.
COMMON DECENCY has a pick of uptempo beats at times as they take you on a new level of their music. Definitely a song that could get into your head. SICK TO THE BONE is a bit laid back in the intro as it has a different flow throughout the song. The beat is high tempo as the vocals keep up with it with ease.Nice.
LET ME BE is another song with a spacey feel as the vocals sneak in with a cool melody and interesting lyrics. Welcome to La la land. MY BLUES was recorded live , as a few of their songs were on this double CD, which really shows off their musical abilities for all to see.
I must admit, I find this band has its own vibe that you could get used to. I feel they are a very dreamy band and have their own style, which you rarely hear these days. Please check them out.
