THE VIOLENT MINE: WHITE NIGHT

THE VIOLET MINE is quite a very unique band that hails from New York. They recorded two albums under the name of VIOLET and decided to change their name for various reasons.

The main nucleus of the band is: MEREDITH MINOGUE-Acoustic guitars, lead and background vocals and JIM BARRY-Acoustic/electric guitars and Mandolin which also includes Annie Minogue-Background vocals; Joe McGinty-Piano, keyboards; Skip Ward/Brian Karp-Bass and Rob Draghi/Nick Saya-Percussion/Drums.

This 10 song album was Produced and Mixed by Reed Black and The Violet Mine and Engineered by Reed Black and Mastered by Joe Lambert. PERFECT HOST starts off in an interesting way as the song has a true '70's folkish feel. I must admit, it has an early Strawbs feel to it, which is quite sweet.

WHITE NIGHT starts with some epic harmonies which is a great delight to hear. This song has a great rock feel plus a great melody. I love it. HAND ME IN MY SUITCASE takes the band into a whole different direction with a bluesy, soulful feel.

I really love the pounding sound it has. SAY HELLO has a 60's feel with its reverb guitar sound that sounds perfect in this song. This is a must hear song to hear. This song is right on. AIR RIDE is truly a Pretenders song that has that great punk feel. There is no doubt I can hear Chrissie Hyde singing this song.I love how the band goes all out on this song. Great job.

I am very impressed by all the musical directions this band plays, to say the least. I'd like to THANK MEREDITH MINOGUE for being in touch with me and her sister, Annie, too. You can find the band at: You tube, Bandcamp, Deezer, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio and other sites. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.]
