THE INDEPENDENT STATE is quite a very interesting band that hails from West Virginia. Their musical tastes range from John Denver to Sarah Jaroz and other well known stars.
This six piece band is: ADAM COX-Lead vocals, guitar, banjo; BRYAN FLOWERS-Vocals, guitar; DIANA BURTON-Bass; ELIZABETH SEGESSENMAN-Vocals, flute, keyboards, FOX HUNT-Vocals, guitar, dobro, steel guitar, mandolin and TOM KIRK-Drums. This 12 song album was Produced, Mixed and Mastered by the band.
LICK LOG HILL kicks off this cd with a great song with some sweet country pickin' with a sweet melody as the band's harmonies are perfect and they all fit well together. Get a taste, you'll love it.
RIGHT TRACK kicks off in high gear from the very first note. The band is spot on for each note they play without stepping on each foot, which is quite a hard task to fill at times.
SAVE THIS WEST VIRGINIA has a dose of the bootlegging they used to do there and might still do in that State. This song sure highlights the backroads of the great West Virginia Check out the lyrics. THE WILD AND THE WONDERFUL brings a different tone to that band as they are more laid back in this song.
The lyrics tell a great story in itself. This song is like a true heartfelt love song. They will give you a real surprise in this song. GOD HAD IT MADE is an amazing song as the lyrics will give you a laugh at times. This song is upbeat and is superb from the very start. I love it.
ROUND AND ROUND brings this CD to an end with their signature sound throughout this CD. I believe they will really be big on the bluegrass circuit in the very near future.
