THE GRIPS WEEDS was formed in 1998 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The band is: RICK REIL-Vocals, guitar; KRISTIN PINELL-Vocals, guitar; DAVE DESANTIS-Bass and KURT REIL-Vocals, drums. There is a guest appearance by the late Pat Dinizio singing a version of The Pretenders, "2000 Miles"! and Jim Babjak laid down a few power chords on this track, too.
The band have their own studio in Highland Park, New Jersey which worked with many name acts. This 11 song CD was recorded, mixed and mastered by Kurt Reil and was Produced by The Grip Weeds. CHRISTMAS DREAM kicks off this CD which is a great power pop song with some great harmonies and a very memorable melody. The lyrics are great as you listen closely to them.
2000 MILES is really quite a treat. This song will always get in your head and Pat Dinizo really does justice to the song. Turn it up loud and enjoy the ride. A CHRISTMAS SONG is quite different coming from the band as you hear a flute play in the intro as they build up throughout the song. Definitely, worth a listen.
I BELIEVE IN FATHER CHRISTMAS is the song by Greg Lake and the band does an amazing version of it. This song is always a gem and the band does an amazing version of it. CHRISTMAS BRING US has a great video intro which you might have seen before. Then the band takes over the video that is worth watching and listening to. The melody once again is as sweet as ever.
WELCOME CHRISTMAS brings this CD to an end with a great popish melody that has excellent lyrics. Be on the 'watch out' for this band, they are hot in every way.
