THE AMORIES: OCTOBERLAND

THE ARMORIES is one of those very memorable bands from Southern California for several reasons and it's for you to find out why . One of those reasons is because of the magnificent album cover that was made by Ridley Broome. His artwork is truly worth the price of the CD/Album alone and is truly a gem.

Remember all those great artists and bands from the psychedelic age? If you do, you'll surely love this band. The band is: Christina Bulbenko-Vocals, key: Rec Broome-Vocals, guitars; Larya Bulenko-Vocals, viola, violin; Clifford Ulrich-Vocals, bass and John M. Borack-Drums.

This 11 song album was Produced, Mixed and Engineered by Michael Simmons and Mastered by Carl Saff. WE ABSOLUTELY MEAN IT kicks off this CD with amazing vocals reminds me of The Chiffons. The harmonies are great to hear as I could picture them having a lot of fun while singing this song. A true gem.

RIDLEY & ME AFTER THE APOCALYPSE kicks off with The Who type of feel as the violin and keys give an extra touch as the vocals still have '60's vocals feel. This is a pure pop song at its best. Check it out.

GREEN HELLFIRE AT THE 7-11 is quite a different type of song but still has that hippie vibe from the 70's and the psychedelic era.The vocals and the band are tight as ever. Quite an interesting title for a song, huh? YOU OUGHTA BE CUT IN HALF sounds like the Mama's and The Papa's on the vocals in the intro with very interesting lyrics that could make you laugh.

Remember the Kasenetz-Katz Singing Orchestra? SNAKE ISLAND THIRTEEN has quite an interesting story as you can read on the liner story as the song itself has a 'very flower power' touch of its own. The vocals are outstanding as she just flows along with the band. I truly love it.

MUSIC & ANIMALS brings this amazing album to end with excellent lyrics and a band that you will never, ever forget. There hasn't been music made like this since the early '70's and that great psychedelic feel. I must admit, it's like The Chiffons meet The Mama's & The Papa's meet C.Y.S. & Y. What an epic mix. I'd like to THANK REX and CHRISTINA [BIG SUR RECORDS] for being in touch with me, you are the best. You find them at: Big Sur Records, Bandcamp, Facebook, Instagram, Soundcloud and other sites. ROCK ON, JIM ALLLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.]
