THE 88 is a one of a kind American pop band that hails from Los Angeles, California. The band consists of KEITH SLETTEDAHL: Vocals, lead guitar; ADAM MERRIN: Keyboards, vocals: TODD 'O KEEFE: Bass, vocals and ANTHONY ZIMMITTI-Drums, percussion.
This 2003 13 song release was Produced, Engineered and Mixed by Adam Merrin and Mastered by J J Golden. The most amazing sound of the band is their reflection of The Kinks throughout their CD. The band worked with Ray Davies as a support and back up band on his American tour, which says a lot for the band.
ALL THE SAME kicks off their CD with great harmonies and a guitar riff which will stay embedded in your head for quite some time. Crank it up and enjoy the ride. HOW GOOD IT CAN BE sounds like it came straight off of a Kinks album with a timeless melody that will have you aching to hear more. The guitar work is straight and solid with sweet harmonies.
GOD IS COMING will take you on a psychedelic trip with an off the wall beat and a slide guitar that will get in your head. This song would make The Kinks proud if they would still be playing together these days. I'M A MAN is a laid back song that highlights the keyboards throughout the intro as the band slowly creeps into the chorus of the song. The harmonies once again come through as solid as ever in this song.
SUNDAY AFTERNOON is a straight up rock and roll song that could fit into a Kinks songbook any day of the week. This is a must song if you are truly a huge Kinks fan. HARD TO BE YOU brings this epic CD to an end. You have to check this song out for yourself. I truly believe you'll love it.
