RON HOUSTON is a resident of San Diego, California with Bakersfield roots. He did some really deep soul searching for this album with songs that he held inside him that deals with anger, happiness. sadness. redemption and more.
He, also, has been sober since 2020 and dealt with Covid 19. I can just imagine the stories he sings on this album. The band is: Ron Houston- Lead vocals, guitar; Jeff Berkley-Guitars, banjo; Jerry Raney/Joey Harris/ Mark Intravaia-Guitars; Rollie Love/ Christopher Hoffee-Bass; Ken Dow -Upright Bass; Shawn Rohlf-Banjo; Melissa Harley-Fiddle; Josh Weinstein-Keyboards; Matt Lynott/Joel Kmak-Drums and Cathryn Beeks, Joshua Taylor and Sandi King- Backing vocals.
This 10 song album was Produced, Mixed and Recorded by Jeff Berkley and Mastered by Robbie Robinson. WHISKEY TRAIN kicks off this album with a pure country rock southern feel. He truly tells a tale of what he's been through during his drinking days and what he loved and lost. I love this song as the melody and lyrics tell so much about him.
PEOPLE LOOKIN' THE OTHER WAY has a solid backbeat as he tells another in his life. How he was ignored as he was going through hard times in his life. Listen closely, you might be able to relate to this song as many of us have been there. Epic song.
BLOOD ON THE MOUNTAIN has an epic intro as a banjo picks away. He takes this song head on as the band slowly sneaks in as his vocals hold it all together. Check out the lyrics and the melody. WOW! Is all I can say. RAISE A LOTTA HELL is another great pickin' song as the melody and lyrics are superb from the very first note. Also, the band's playing is quite impressive, to say the least.
GUN SALE AT CHURCH brings this great album to an end. This song has that southern country rock feel once again. The lyrics are the best ever as the melody is a real toe tapper and more. This is one epic album from the very first note to the end. I love it all. Be on the lookout for Ron Houston. You can find him at: You tube, Spotify, Facebook, Deezer, Pandora, Amazon Music and other sites. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.]
