ROB CLARKE: BLUES, BEAT AND BEAL

ROB CLARKE is a amazing acoustic guitarist and vocalist that hails from Liverpool. England.  He has made a series of albums with a band and decided to lay down a 'stripped down acoustic album' of beat poetry, old blues and 'Jacques Brel accordion sandwiches' as he states it.

His music has remnants of chamber pop, tinged psychedelia and shuffling blues. He's like many of us trying to make sense of the world outside. This 11 song CD credits Jo Powell on Accordion and was Produced by Fran Ashcroft who does a bit on the piano.

SHE'S A MEAN kicks off this CD with a soulful story about a girl that's always messing around.I love the 'pop blues' feel to this song.CHEAPSKATE has a bit of a jazzy flavor to it, which I find nice to hear.I must admit, if you love Tom Waits , you'll love this one. FRIDGE is truly a soulful song as the harmonica lets loose during the intro. The guitar is perfect as the harmonica is screaming as you. Check this one out.

WHAT A COMMOTION is a great uptempo song that I could see Elvis Costello singing. The harmonica once again adds a great favor to the song.MY KIND OF a short song in which he narrates in all of it. Listen closely.MY OLD BANJO brings this great CD to an end. I must admit, it's great to hear the blues played on the banjo. You rarely ever hear that at all.

I feel this album is quite a 'gem' and should be on the blues charts. Also, please check into his other band releases. I want to give ROB CLARKE  a BIG THANK YOU for being in touch with me. You can find him on: Facebook, You tube, Bandcamp, Aldora Britain Records, Soundcloud, Tik Tok, Instagram, At The Barrier and other sites. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE]
