PAUL COLLINS name should be pretty familiar to those in the music world. Paul was in a band called The Nerves in 1974 and they toured with The Ramones.
Later, he became a member of The Breakways and followed up a well known band called, The Beat which became known as Paul Collins Beat. Paul , also, spent time at the Juilliard Music School in his hometown of New York City.
This new 12 song release, on Jem Records, has various musicians who played on that include Dwight Twitty, Shoes, 20/20, Prairie Prince, Richard X. Heyman and Ronnie Barnett. The CD cover was taken by Bob Gruen, who is quite a well known author and photographer. This CD was Produced and Mixed by Jim Diamond.
STAND BACK AND TAKE A GOOD LOOK kicks off the CD with a great pop song that is quite a treat for all.Paul is sounding better than ever and the lyrics will grow on you in no time. IN ANOTHER WORLD is another gem with a strong beat and cool lyrics that might have been heard of before. Check it out.
LIVERPOOL is laid back a bit as Paul is speaking about it with some singing in between. I find this song quite intriguing yet great.YOU CAN'T GO BACK is a laid back love song about what should be and what could happen. I must admit, I love that great '60's feel to the song.
THAT'S WHEN I THINK OF YOU is a love song that tells about an old love that he lost.He often thinks of her more than he wants This song should hit home with many people. WESTBOUND brings this great CD to an end with a great bluesy feel that reminds me a bit of T. REX.
