GLASS PRISM RESURRECTION By Jim Allford

GLASS PRISM is a '60's psychedelic band that hails from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area. They have just released their double CD, Resurrection, on Debra Records. They were the very first band from the Northeast to receive a major record deal. They have released two albums, POE THROUGH THE GLASS PRISM (in 1969) and ON JOY AND SORROW (in 1970). SONY Music has recently released these two albums on all digital formats

. They also had spin-off bands called, SHENANDOAH and EL CAMINOS. I must admit, they have quite impressive Biography and Discography. The band had several personnel changes throughout the years, but only one original member always remained. From the years 1960 until the present, TOM VARANO has been the nucleus of the band. In October of 2022 they were inducted into the Central Pennsylvania Hall of Fame [CPMHOF] along with The Buoys/Dakota, The Jordan Brothers, Hybrid Ice, Breaking Benjamin and a few others. The induction ceremony took place in the Hershey Theater in March of 2023.

Both of their albums are highly collectible and are hard to find. I would like to mention that their album, POE THROUGH THE GLASS PRISM was engineered and produced by Les Paul. This new CD, Resurrection, features 5 newly recorded and arranged songs from the Poe Through The Glass Prism album and 9 new compositions, plus a second CD, Shenandoah Sessions '73, which was previously unreleased and was recorded at Bell Sound Studios in N.Y.C. in 1973.

I highly recommend checking out this amazing band and all the history they have. I can't say enough about them, and they also will be re-releasing both of their earlier albums on vinyl only in 2023. Stay tuned, the band is far from done. I want to give a BIG SHOUT to Tom Varano for all the info and being in touch. You can find the band at: You Tube, Pandora, Spotify, Facebook, Rate Our Music, iHeart, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Deezer, My Space, Amazon, Last.fm and Discogs. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [www.steelnotesmagazine.com]
