EMON THE DESTROYER is a one man solo act hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland. He is, by far, not your run of the mill artist. He, also, is a painting graduate from Edinburgh College of Art.
He states about himself, " Expect to see an idiot with a guitar mumbling in the microphone about wigwams, tiny feel and avalanches". In all aspects, he sees it as part of his art and hopeless about anything else.
He. also, records as Bunny & The Invalid Singers and guitarist for Idiot Half Brother. On this 8 song album, Emon The Destroyer, is the Producer and It was Mastered at Bearsuit Records, Edinburgh.
THE CHOIRMASTER kicks off this CD with some space sounds that are loud and in your face. Then he starts adding his vocals and there are strange noises in the background. I even wonder if Frank Zappa could handle this?
SONNY SAID has a rhythm that is hard to follow as it goes in all directions. Once you have the feel of it, you can get a grip of it. I must admit, that task isn't easy.
WE'LL BE PIRANHAS sounds as if it's a soundtrack to a movie. The instruments are constantly weaving in and out throughout the song, as most of his music does.
MY STARS brings this CD to an end and it's quite long. You hear one note strum on the guitar and everyone once in a while as he hits a few chords. He talks to you in this song, but it's hard to understand at times.
Then there is complete silence until near the end of this 9 minute + song , in which, he starts speaking again with all his background sounds. I feel he takes all his music as a 'art form' and hopes that people will give him a chance to be heard.
