ELSTON GUNN is your far better than average country rock band. The members of the band are: JESSE BELLAMY-Vocals, guitar, harp; NOAH BELLAMY-Vocals, guitar, mandolin; BOB MASSICOTTE-Bass and DAVE REFUSE-Drums.
You might recognize the first two names! They are sons of the infamous THE BELLAMY BROTHERS band and played under a different band's name, Burning Sky. This is the first and only time the band made an album under this name.
The band had several guests accompany them on this CD. This 2000 11 song CD was Produced by Jesse and Noah Bellamy, Ron Taylor and Engineered by Ron Taylor.
The CD kicks off with a song titled,
IT WEEPS MY HEART which is straight up country rock that will grab your attention fast. The vocals are solid and strong with a bit of a raw guitar sound.
THE NEXT HEART YOU BREAK is a slow paced song which is a real heartbreaker as his voice just rips you apart inside. The lyrics will really get to you. Check it out.
IT'S ALL OVER NOW, BABY BLUE is a song you should know. Yes, they do their own version of the Bob Dylan sound. The rock touch they give to it is well worth the listen. This is a great rock version of the song.
ASSASSINS is quite a treat as the harmonies are quite a treat as the story is told. Listen close to the lyrics and think about what is really going on in today's world. This could have been a Bob Segar song, no doubt.
RAIN OF DECEIT will really be quite a gem as the lyrics will once again will get your attention. There's one point in this song that will have you wondering 'what happened'? Give it a listen.
AMSTERDAM BLUES brings this great CD to an end. You'll love this song as he vents out about all the scrap to deal with. Turn it up.
