DEREK VANDERHOSRT hails from Los Angeles via from Colorado. He grew up learning to play piano and progressed playing the banjo. mandolin and guitar. He has film credits that include X-Men films, Hidden Figures, No Country for Old Man and many other films.
Derek played in the bands The Leaf and The Rosemary's for a time. He took a 20 year break from music to work in the film industry. In 2017, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Head and Neck Cancer, in which he had a long recovery for which he needed a voice coach to sing again and resume his music.
The new band includes: John Mallander, Sierra Hall, Steven Poltz, Frank Evans, Brook Sutton and James Dick. Also, in July he'll be releasing his new 12 song CD titled, BE KIND. BE KIND is a true country song with the old taste of country music of years gone by.
As people always say, they don't make music like that anymore. This song is one of them with great lyrics and real foot tapper. True country fans will love this one. MISUNDERSTOOD is super cool as the lyrics might give you a laugh and the band is playing so sweet. The melody and lyrics will surely have your attention. I love it.
GRACE [HANGING ON YOUR DOOR PART 2] is a bit laid back as the lyrics are epic as he tells his story. I must admit, you can feel the compassion in his voice as he sings this.
