BOBBY SUTLIFF: ONLY GHOST REMAIN PLUS

BOBBY SUTLIFF is a guitar player from Jackson, Mississippi. He was the co-founder of a jangle rock band called The Windbreakers before he died of cancer. Tim Lee and Bobby Sutliff started the Windbreakers and were popular with the college crowd through the 1980's and early 1990's. Their music was similar to R.E.M., Let's Active and quite a few other artists and bands.

He, also, released 5 solo albums and in 1987 he released ONLY GHOST REMAIN which is a mixture of covers and originals. The story behind ONLY GHOST REMAIN PLUS is that a deal was made with JEM RECORDS in 2023 to have this released by the family and Tim Lee.

The CD has 11 songs from the original album plus 11 other releases. The album was Produced, Recorded by Mitch Easter in 1987. All songs are performed by BOBBY SUTILFF- Guitar, vocals; MITCH EASTER-Guitar and drums and JEFF LEWIS-Drums.

SAME WAY TOMORROW kicks off this CD was a great pop song with a sweet melody and great guitar licks that will have you wanting more. Get ready to have a great ride and crank it up. STUPID IDEA reminds me of The Plimsouls with the twangy guitars and great vocals. The lyrics are great and you can tell he is singing with  all his heart and soul.

YOU COULD'VE TOLD ME reminds me a bit of The db's with a great melody that will stay in your head forever. The guitar solo reminds me a bit of The Byrds, which is quite sweet.   DON'T MEAN TO has a Marshall Crenshae favor which is nice to hear. The reflections are so very close which is quite nice.

LONG RED BOTTLE WINE has a Long Ryders feel to the song. There is no doubt, this song will grow on you. ONE WAY TICKET reminds me a bit of The Bo Deans with a great treat. The melody and lyrics are as strong as ever. POWERLINE has a Smithereens feel to it which is always a treat to hear.

LONELY BEACH brings this amazing CD to an end with an instrumental . I highly recommend getting this CD and there is not one weak song on it. I want to give a shout out to MAUREEN at JEM RECORDS for being in touch. You can find BOBBY SUTLIFF at: Jem Records,You Tube, Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, iHeart, Apple Music and Deezer.
