SKARLETT WOODS: LETTERS TO THE WES

SKARLETT WOODS is quite an interesting folkish, rock and roll, pop and show tune singer that hails from rural Minnesota. Her life story is one that many of us can relate to being raised in a lower middle class family and finding her love in music.

The musicians on this album are: Skarlett Woods: Vocals, 7 string nylon acoustic guitar, electric sitar, banjo, keyboards, beat noises, mouth trumpet and harmonies; Gregory Byers-Violin, viola, cello; Tommy Barbearella-B3 organ, wurlitzer; Dave Budimir-Trombone; Rick Manik-Saxophone; Kevin Bowe-Electric guitar, bass; Peter Anderson/Noah Levy-Drums. This 10 song album was Produced by Kevin Bowe and Skarlett Woods and Mastered by Bruce Templeton and Recorded and Mixed by Kevin Bowe.

This album kicks off with a sweet instrumental song titled, OVERTURE, which showcases some very sweet pickin on her 7 string acoustic guitar and a banjo. This is really a sweet song. PORTLAND, OR has a nice rock and roll feel to it and is surely a toe tapper and then some. I must admit, the melody and lyrics are as strong as ever. Check it out.

YOU AND I [Santa Cruz, Ca] has a nice laid back feel to this song as you can actually feel her singing this song to you from her heart.Just close your eyes and float along with it. Quite a gem. CLOSE TO YOU [Braver These Days] has a whole new different feel that you would not expect which has a Melissa Etheridge/Janis Joplin type of feel. I'm sure you will definitely feel the vibes in this song.

I COULD BE YOUR MONSTER once again brings a whole new different vibe to her songs. The bluesy feel is all there, plus. more. This song will take you to La la land once again. Feel it. MN FARM GIRL has a bit of a psychedelic feel which is great to hear. The melody and lyrics are spot on in this song. Check out those lyrics, too. Let it rip and have some fun. I love this one a lot. Crank it up. I'd like to THANK KRITA for everything. You can find Skarlett Woods at: Bandcamp, Deezer, Apple Music, Amazon Music, You tube and other sites. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.]
