MATT JAFFE: GONE ENOUGH TO MISS

MATT JAFFE is quite an interesting singer/songwriter that hails from San Francisco, Calif. Jerry Harrison [of The Talking Heads] offered Matt to produce his first record and he kept churning out songs since then. He has opened and toured with many name acts like Wilco, Bobby Weir, John Doe and the list goes on.

He also collaborated with Elvis Costello, Tom Petty and Stephin Merrit. The musicians on this album are: Matt Jaffe-Vocals, guitar, keyboards' Megan Slankard-Vocals; James DePrato-Guitar, bass, programming and Vicente Rodriguez-Drums, percussion. This 9 song album was Produced by James DePrato and Engineered by John Adair, Will Hampton, Peter Craft and Mastered by Pete Weiss.

HOMESICK ALIEN kicks off this album with quite creative noises as the vocals come in at the perfect time as the melody and lyrics drift away well in this song. The noises keep this song quite interesting as the song goes on. Check it out.

PROOF I'M HERE has a familiar sound as his vocals sound a lot like David Bowie as the reflections are perfect in this song. I must admit, quite impressive, to say the least. This song will blow you away. So sweet. AIR THAT I BREATHE once again sounds a lot like Bowie as all of the reflections of him are there.

The song is purely in the same mode as Bowie would sing. WOW! Is all I can say. CHAMELEON has all the making of a Top 10 song on the charts. All the hooks are there in this song and every note is spot on from start to finish. Be on the lookout for this song. TWILIGHT OF OUR PRIME takes on more of a rock and roll feel with a very clever melody and lyrics that will have you wanting more to hear.Crank it up and get the party started. A must to hear.

CRYING LESSONS brings this flawless album to an end as it reminds me of a John Lennon song as the melody and lyrics fall into place. You'll be swaying away to this superb song. I love it. I'd like to THANK MATT for being in touch with me. You can find Matt at: Soundcloud, Pandora, Spotify. Apple Music, You tube and other sites. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.]
