Let me introduce you to 13TH AND EAST. This is a three piece band that hails from Chicago via Berwick, Ill. They have some very interesting comparisons as quoted, " If Rush and UFO had a love child in Dave Grohl's basement'. I feel that, alone, is quite a big statement about a band.
The band member's are: Chris Caputo-Vocals. Backing vocals; Al Kunickis-Guitars, bass, keyboards, backing vocals and Dave Fornalsky-Guitar, bass, keyboards, drums. Their EP and other music by them has been Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Dave Fornalsky.
ALWAYS TOMORROW kicks off this EP which has a bit laid back vibe as the band , definitely, has a sound of their own. The melody and lyrics are quite strong as you can feel their vibe. Very Impressive. PSYCHOTIC BREAK is quite a heavy song when the band lays it on 'thick' in the intro. This song reminds me of something that the 'Human League' would be playing in this day and age on acid. The song does have a slow pace to it, which is pretty cool.
SWEET JANE is not the song you think it meant to be. They own this song which has a super groove with some very heavy duty vibes. This song will, definitely, get in your head with their great melody and lyrics. This is a MUST song to hear.
LOST TIME has a slow paced intro as the band picks it up throughout the song as they go back and forth in the song. This song once again has a melody and vibe. GOODBYE CHICAGO has a 80's rock sound to it that reminds me of a song the band, Poison, could be playing.
The flashy guitar work with blow you away. Let it rip. 1989 is quite different as the band has a long dialogue in the into as they kick into a song that, definitely, sounds like a 1989 song. The song title speaks for itself. I , definitely, feel different about the quote about the band, but they do have a vibe of their own. I'd like to THANK CHRIS for being in touch. You can find the band at: Facebook, You tube, Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music and more. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.]
