HEATHER PIERSON: BACK TO THE LIGHT

HEATHER PIERSON is a singer that hails from New Hampshire that has quite a musical history. She has recorded sixteen albums and many singles on her very own record label, Vessel Recordings.

She grew up listening to many of our favorites like The Allman Bros, Cat Stevens, Kiss, The Beatles and many others which her parents played on their stereo. In 2215 she formed her first trio called, The Heather Pierson Trio and she has evolved since then.

On this 2023 release she her trio which included Heather Pierson-Lead vocals, piano, Wurlitzer, B3 and tenor banjo; Shawn Nadeau-Bass, harmony vocals and Craig Bryan-Drums, percussion, harmony vocals and guest on this album is Leah Boyd-Harmony Vocals. This 8 song album was Produced by Heather Pierson and Produced and Mixed by Jason Phelps and Mastered by Pat Keane.

DUSTY HOUSE BLUES kicks off this album that reminds me of the Maria Muldaur song, " Won't You Feel My Leg" which is a true classic in its own right. I must admit, I'm always a sucker for a classy blues song. I love the bass solo, it's so, so sweet.

FEEL SOMETHING has that old time dixie blues type of feel. I love the be-bop touch she adds to it. There is no doubt she knows what music fits her well as she just flows along with it. Superb. PERSPECTIVE reminds me of watching a Betty Boop cartoon as she would always strut around with her huge feather fan and flashing her eyes. I hope this song takes you there, too.

JOY CAME BACK surely is a jazz song that all the true jazz lovers will go crazy over. The song is simple as she plays away as the band is right on the money throughout the song. Put on your dancing shoes and get out there and jive it up. GUTTER brings this amazing album to an end with some sweet banjo playing and some very clever lyrics, so listen close. This album is flawless from beginning to end and worth having in your collection. I love it all. You can find Heather Pierson at: You tube, Deezer, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Apple Music and other sites. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.]
