ERIN ASH SULLIVAN: SIGNPOST AND MARKS

ERIN ASH SULLIVAN has been quite a traveler throughout most of her life. She has traveled to Maryland, Massachusetts, California, Scotland and back to California again in her 1972 Volkswagen camper and finally settled in Massachusetts.

While attending. attending college she started playing guitar and met Amy Spence and they formed the duo, Edith O. They have played The Bitter End and CBGB's Gallery.

Erin plays on this album-Vocals, guitar and ukulele as Doug Kwartler plays everything else. I'd like to mention Doug played in a band called Foundry, which I saw play live at the MMC in Harrisburg, Pa many years ago.

Doug Kwarter Mixed, Mastered, Recorded, Produced this 12 song album in Chelmsford, Ma. GOAT ON A STONE WALL kicks off this album which is a clever written song with some interesting lyrics. This is a very uptempo song as the melody and lyrics will get in your head. Sweet song.

NOBODY'S BUSINESS is a very laid back song with superb harmonies in which she signs herself. The lyrics say it all and most likely you could relate to them. I love it. ONE TIME I STOLE A BOOK is another interesting story as she sings about entering adulthood as her grandparents told her stories marking the title of this album. The video for this song is quite interesting to see. Check it out.

GHOST OF A THORN is quite a bittersweet song as the lyrics and melody flow throughout this song. I must admit, I really love this one alot for the statement that she is making. The volin fits perfectly in this song. So nice.

EAT THE PIE is an upbeat song as the steel guitar flows in the background. Who wants to be in the pie eating contest on the 4th of July? Listen very close to the lyrics as her story will tell you. Very clever song.

WE WALK THE FLATS is another sweet song with its laid back beat as she tells her story once again. I'm quite sure many people could relate to this song a lot. This song flows along nicely.

BEFORE YOU GO brings this superb album to an end which reflects on being a parent as you raise your kids and the trials and tribulations in life. Also, the fact of being as independent as you can growing up. What a classy and epic album. She can get into your soul. Please give her a listen. You can find Erin at: You tube, Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Pandora and other sites. ROCK ON, JIM ALLFORD [STEEL NOTES MAGAZINE.]
